A very sad day...a very sad face...for the last day...lazy lazy voyage home....left some customary "chicken and eggs" at the Canadian Border...after many many stops, stalling on the inevitable....we made it home at 5:00 pm...Maggie meowed so much at our arrival...she almost lost her voice...

July 18, 2015 Wenatchee to Omak
Now we are really dragging our feet...last full day and night on holidays. Spent the better part of the day walking around Lake Chelan, Gracie doing lots of swimming. It was pretty darn hot!!
There were so many people on the water...
Cooled off doing some shopping downtown.....amazing flowers...someone has a green thumb here!!!
Or maybe it's just a little bit of...
Instead of a bird house....a bird tree!! This place was busy busy...
And the best thing of all....MY wine glass!!!! well its the one I want, but luckily I didn't get it!!!
Spent the last night in our "standby" place, Omak Washington...We splurged.. and instead of our usual Walmart Campground, we stayed at the City campground at the Recreation/Rodeo Complex, steal of a deal $25.00 full hookups!!!
Watching bunnies....and also watching this lady who had the coolest looking cat on a harness, together with a cat carrier and a cooler and a few other small items....We thought she was just having a very long picnic in the shade of a tree on a very hot day ...but after a while, when the sun was setting, and as she curled up on a park bench... we realized she was indeed homeless...I was happy she had a cat...to love and be loved....

July 17, 2015 Vantage to Wenatchee
Awoke to another sunny hot day, another travel day, Wild Horse Monument outside of Vantage, Washington.
We saw this dog at the campsite and then again at the monument...it's ears are so cropped that when the dog shows an interest in something, its ear tips actually touch!!! freaky
Question?? Between #1 and #10....how cool is George ????
We love the farms and orchards in this area, if you don't know what the crop is...they will tell you...How cool is that...Although I did see "what I was sure was corn"...labelled as "Lima Beans"...
More and more farmland, different from the mountains and rugged landscape we had recently left, but gorgeous in its own right..
And typical of this area, another Dam..
For a Friday night we were really really lucky to get a campsite at a state park on the river, had an early afternoon enjoying the water and the sunshine and the occasional "cocktail"..
July 16 - Hood River to Vantage Washington, the road home
Tried to get a early start, not too bad...think we are dragging our feet a little because we are once again, heading North...towards home...More great views of the Mighty Columbia River and the Wind Turbines along the way.
Then from the rugged Columbia River Gorge to fertile rolling farmland near Ellensburg, Washington..
Found a great state park at Vantage State Park...
It was pretty darn hot, so Gracie enjoyed some water and of course...sand-time!!! yikes

July 15, 2015 Hood River
Spent another day in Hood River, this time we found a much better place to ride, a 5 mile paved trail, scenic it was, flat it was not... yikes
We were told there was a great Ice cream Place at Mosier, which is at the end of the 5 miles before you turn around and endure more hills to go back....apparently, we were too early, no ice cream for us, just a quick look at the little town...Here's a creative paint job..
Then back on the road back to town...there was always something to see on the Mighty Columbia
Still early in the day, we went and got our little Gracie, and headed off to see Mount Hood. Stopped for our much needed ice cream, and Gracie wanted to have her picture taken..not!!
Back on the road, a gorgeous view of this giant every corner we turned..
We stopped at this one area...couldn't figure out why nobody was around?? Luckily I looked at my map a little better, there was another ski area further down the road..
While most people are enjoying the water sports in Hood River..there are still people skiing on this mountain, it looks pretty bleak, but guess its the novelty of it all...
This sign caught our attention...."We contemplated making a run for it...our holidays were coming to an end...
And who doesn't love the "Bear"!!!
Twin Tunnels about half way through the ride

This is what is left of a river bed after the spring run-off...I can just imagine what this looks like at peak flow, must be amazing...
We finally found the right ski area that was still open...Now this looks more like it..
