July 7, 2015 - Astoria to Cape Lookout State Park

Had some rain overnight, they weren't calling for it, so of course Samantha's tent got kinda wet, alot of people had lots of wet things....made packing up a little more interesting....said good-bye one more time to our brave friend and wished her safe and happy travels on her amazing solo journey.

The first part of the day was a little cool and rainy...as we made our way to Cape Lookout.  First stop, shopping at the Outlet Mall in Seaside until it warmed up.  Luckily that didn't take too long, gets expensive...

This is how some guys make their money in Seaside Oregon....make a sand castle of a naked lady...and put a bucket asking for money....gotta love America...

Great beach here ..miles and miles of sand...awesome stuff...

And me and the poogle....we love this dog...she makes travel a little more interesting...a lot slower...but she's a great little doggie...

After a great sandwich, we were on our way again.  I thought it was a great idea to take a side trip to Ecola State Park....well the tour book said it had great views....I didn't look into whether it was a really great idea to bring an RV!!!!!...ask George about that one...We made it....and it was beautiful...

And I think Gracie thought it was a good choice...

Now back through the winding, hilly, forested road, which seemed to take forever....to our most FAVOURITE PLACE on the Oregon Coast....the most Dog Friendly...RV Friendly place we have ever come across...We LOVE LOVE LOVE Cannon Beach...

The city if so clean, so beautiful.  There are amazing gardens and flowers everywhere.

and the occasional Puffin to wrap your arms around...

and a little bit to ponder????   that age old question.... The chicken or the Egg???

My only disappointment here in Cannon Beach....enjoying what was the absolute best "cookies and cream ice cream on a waffle cone"....I did the dreaded....licked the ice cream right off the freaking cone....onto the sidewalk...next to the dog water bowl....thought about the 10 second rule...but came to my senses...did the adult thing.....shed a quiet tear...decided to walk away....shoulders slumped....lesson learned....NEXT TIME I'LL PICK THE DAMN ICECREAM UP AND STICK IT BACK ON MY CONE!!!

A tour of the Tillamook Cheese Factory.....assembly line broken...icecream line.(to make up for the tragedy in Cannon Beach)..way too long, we made our way to Cape Lookout State Park.

We have had the unfortunate luck of almost all our campsites...being stuck in the shade of the trees....with fingers and toes crossed....thinking our luck had changed.,...we looked at what was the perfect RV spot...in the sun....not in the shade...following the one-way rules of the park!!! we start checking the numbers....yes ...yes...yes....no...nO...NO...NO...SHADE!!! For the second time of the day....brushed it off....parked the damn trailer, grabbed a Real Cold Beer and headed for the beach...

aaahhhh......the beauty of holidays on the Oregon Coast...
